#006 February 2019 issue

Welcome to this issue of VIZ.,
This issue comes to you earlier than usual and bigger than usual.
Thats because I GOT A DSLR! Thats a camera incase you didnt know.
I have been shooting every day since I got it and have learnt a lot.
In this issue you will see recent and some not so recent artworks, ARTJAM holiday excertions to derelict places, photos of events at the Bhakti Lounge, people who received books from me on the street (yes ive been going out!), and other pics I took just because it was interesting like my friends faces or my bike.

First block printing experiment.
Got it backwards.. The only way I could think of making it work was printing it on the under side of a piece of glass.

The text reads "Be who you want to be" The theme for youth week last year
I find this to be a powerful quote.
We are human beings, not human doings or havings. We have a choice in the matter of our being.
So many of us let others shape our being. We say "you make me mad" or just be a way that gets us liked.
This inauthenticity robs our true self expression - the way of being we want to be.
Be who you want to be.
But who do I want to be?
Who is doing the wanting?
Some soul searching is required before we can find our true self and act on that platform.

Lotuses teach me so much about beauty, grace and integrity.
They remain their pure, beautiful and cooling selves no matter what their environment.

The mural I helped paint with 7-9 yr olds:)
Thats Oscar the grouch looking happy.

Part of ARTJAM Holiday programs is spot hunting and whipping stairs.

An old Bunnings forklift that must have gotten shrunk and broke its axle trying to lift a pallet. Lesson: dont try to lift something you cant lift.

Another shrunken vehicle. This one had a popped balloon on stuck to its toebar. Probably to get it to its crime scene without having to fill the tank with petrol because they left their wallet at home or at the police station.
Salut

A red car that needs some TLC. And some critical parts.

Taken by Asher the legend.

Henry is so photogenic.

Playgrounds imitate life. Complicated and all about climbing to the top only to realize its not that great.

Exploring Wellingtons most hidden spot. I think

Therefore the doubts which have arisen in your heart out of ignorance should be slashed by the weapon of knowledge. Armed with yoga, O Bhārata, stand and fight.

Getting more into letters.

For some reason the best shots were taken on the macro setting.

Lucy doesnt usually stop and talk to Hare Krsnas but when she does, she spends 20 minutes talking to us and buys books.

Askews new mural seen from a rooftop on Willis

I saw a group of Bhuddists at higher taste so I asked to sit with them. We had a good chat about our stories coming to our paths and what our goals are for this year.

Met this bro on Cuba and he came to the Lounge. He got to meet with HH Devamrta swami. He got his book and downloaded Vedabase to his phone so he can read the Bhagavad Gita AS IT IS and keep his luggage light.
We are going to stay in touch while he travels to Asia in search of truth.

Sri Jiva met these guys on Cuba and they came to Bhakti Lounge and had a jolly good time. Took some books too.

Thoughts of late
15/1/19
Waking up early has become really easy all of a sudden
I leave me phone on my desk so I have to get up. That helps
Going to bed at a reasonable hour helps and going to bed happy does too. As does the warm weather.
But I think the main thing is going to bed with an authentic desire to get up and chant has helped the most.

Reading is where its at
I have been naturally attracted to reading the Srimad Bhagavatam lately, taking the opportunity to see whats there when I walk past my open 5th canto sitting at chest height on the top of my book shelf. This reading is amazing because it is both the means and the goal of bhakti yoga.
verse here
Liking my life
Liking life is critical to being happy.
its the same as being happy
liking your self seems to be the same too
and liking others really helps
and liking others seems to come naturally when I like my self and my life

Cameras in my face dont scare me anymore
I used to dread a camera in front of me because I knew I wasn't able to fake a real smile. Now I just smile and it comes out looking like I'm actually happy. Because I am:)
Invitation
I dare you to be fully present with what ever youre doing.
Its hard when what youre doing is a result of your past.
So to really be present you have to become fully realized in the knowledge that your self is eternal and has nothing to do with anything thats happened or will happen in this body/life.
Pretty bold invitation, I know. I'll let you know when I've done it myself.
Thank you!
Thanks for reading my zine
If you would like a printed version, click the link at the bottom of the page.
I wish you all the very best for 2019 whatever that means for you and pray that any reversals serve as reminders of things you forgot and bring you closer to the Absolute Truth.
Yours truly,
Muchu
