A New SOUL ON FIRE Contributor up in Here
(my wife)
So excited to be joining the Soul on Fire zine team :) …let me introduce myself.
My name is Isvari Kesavi, (pronounced E-shh va-ree/K-shh ah-vee) It’s one of the many names for the divine feminine energy of God.
I’m a Bhakti practitioner living in a Canadian born body. I’m a yoga teacher and schoolteacher. I’m a health & wellness enthusiast. I’m an actress and a content contributor on social media, from time to time. @fk_ik.ishh ← Insta handle
I’m a daughter, a sister, an aunt to two young nephews, a friend, a fiancé (currently living in Whangarei, New Zealand together), a disciple… the list can go on really. I am many things to many people.
On the topic of who I am, I’d like to share a reflection from one of my favorite books of wisdom.
The Bhagavad Gita, which is one of the prime Bhakti yoga texts, challenges us to answer the question…What am I? or rather, who am I? Which is the golden question of our time. Living in a world where, online and offline, people are hyper-focused on this idea of “becoming” or establishing themselves with a particular identity, which can be quite curated.
“Consciousness may be pervertedly reflected by the covering of material circumstances, just as light reflected through colored glass may appear to be a certain color.”
- Bhagavad Gita, Introduction
If we can look past these reflections; these designations that pertain to the body and our material circumstances, we will be able to uncover an identity that is authentic and one that has been lying dormant.
So, who am I?
I am a person on a deep and serious journey, continuing to learn more about my existence and my authentic self. I am… here to learn and grow and share what I’m learning in an inspiring and relatable way with others, which I intend to do on this platform.
Thanks for having me! 😊 Looking forward to building community and getting to know who all of YOU are.
Signing off,
Ik <3
