Jayadeva Goswami who’s birthday it is today was a great devotee and poet who lived in the 12th century.
He wrote the famous Gita Govinda which spread all over india during a time when there was no centralised authority ruling over much of India. Hymns written by Jayadeva are also incorporated in the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy books of the Sikhs as Guru Nanak was greatly impressed by his works on his visit to Puri.
His parents where Bhojadeva and Ramadevi. He studied Music, poetry and dancing at Kurmapataka. Heres a verse from his most famous written artwork Gita Govinda

My understanding is that the style of painting above evolved from the Gita Govinda by Jayadeva Goswami. The naive and sweet way landscapes and lotus ponds are painted has hugely influenced my art making. See what I mean below:
