Poem
By Ayodhyadeva
how do we know what is fake and what is real
is it what we see or how we feel?
or do we have to honestly admit
that it’s hard for us to recognize what’s counterfeit?
what do we take as the most correct sign
to accept that something is actually genuine?
we might say that it is authentic for sure
but it may be adulterated and quite impure
and we fall again for another brilliant disguise
that makes us blind although we have eyes
we may err in validating anything’s true worth
and its authenticity we simply fail to unearth
we do have difficulty ascertaining fact from fiction
and many things appear to us, a contradiction
so we may not be able to put everything on the right shelf
but we can always try to be true to ourself
